"The Avery Anna show finally went on at the Rialto in Joliet; my original ticket shows a date of March 24th. I was eager to witness Avery Anna perform, and initially, his voice sounded powerful and golden. However, reality soon dawned on me that Avery was delivering each song with a fusion of free form Jazz and 18th-century country. While this approach was charming at times, none of the songs adhered to traditional timing.
I left the show feeling disappointed as I would have preferred to hear classics like Georgia On My Mind and On The Road Again performed in a more traditional manner. Nevertheless, the band was cohesive, and Avery included expected songs along with a sprinkling of additional tidbits like Beer for the Horses and City of New Orleans.
My disappointment was further exacerbated by the continuous flashing of cameras by fans. Although the signs clearly prohibited cameras, I understand the desire for keepsake photos. However, I disapprove of the persistent use of flash photography, especially the non-stop procession of fans to the center stage and the few individuals camped at the side of the stage who seemed more focused on capturing every moment through flash photography rather than listening to the music."
